Gardenism is currently a small team of freelance collaborators working with founder and garden designer Rado Zezulak. What brings us together is our shared passion for great design and sustainability.
Rado Zezulak – Garden Designer
Rado’s background is in engineering design. Before he ventured on the path of becoming a freelance landscape designer, he worked in various roles and industries.
Rado has been interested in plants and botany since childhood. As a kid, he enjoyed creating miniature succulent landscapes and roaming the woods pretending he was on a botanic expedition. This interest in nature continued and as a young adult, Rado commenced studying Environmental Science. However, having some doubts if this was the right fit for him, he soon switched to Mechanical Engineering for its more practical orientation.
Rado came to live and work in Australia shortly after completing his university studies in Slovakia in 2006. After a few years in different roles and industries, he started to re-evaluate his career path once more. Practicality on its own didn’t seem to hold much appeal anymore. Hence, he made another career half turn and decided to study Landscape Design at TAFE North Ryde.
During his studies, Rado learned about plants, soils, and design theory. He also took up an additional landscape construction course and obtain a structural landscaping licence.
In the past, Rado served on the Board of Directors of the Australian Institute of Landscape Designers and Managers (AILDM).
When Rado isn’t busy being a garden designer, he enjoys good movies, walking in nature, swimming, and eating pastry.
Some of his relevant qualifications:
- Diploma in Landscape Design – North Ryde TAFE
- Certificate III in Landscape Construction – North Ryde TAFE
- Masters in Mechanical Engineering – STU in Bratislava, Slovakia
